Local SEO Fixes That Get Small Businesses Found on Google

1. Claim and complete your Google Business Profile
This is the single biggest lever in local SEO. Claim your profile, choose the most accurate primary category, add every service, set your hours, and upload real photos. An incomplete profile quietly loses you searches you'd otherwise win.
2. Make your name, address, and phone identical everywhere
Google cross-checks your business details across the web. If your address or phone number is formatted differently on your site, Yelp, and Facebook, it erodes trust. Pick one exact format and use it everywhere.
3. Put your city and service in your page titles
A title like "Emergency Plumber in Fitchburg, MA | Rapid Rooter" tells Google exactly what you do and where. Generic titles like "Home" or "Welcome" waste your most valuable SEO real estate.
4. Earn recent, genuine reviews — and reply to them
Review count, rating, and recency all feed local rankings. Ask happy customers right after the job, and reply to every review. Responding signals an active, trustworthy business to both Google and future customers.
5. Make sure Google can actually index your site
We regularly find local sites that simply aren't in Google's index — often from a leftover "noindex" setting or a missing sitemap. If Google can't read the page, none of the above matters. This is the first thing we check in every audit.
