Does Your Website Actually Convert? A Quick Checklist

Getting people to your website is only half the job. If visitors land, look around, and leave without calling, booking, or buying, the traffic was wasted. Run your site through this quick checklist — if you're missing more than two, you're leaving money on the table.

1. A clear promise above the fold

Within three seconds, a visitor should know what you do, who it's for, and where you serve. One strong headline beats a slider of stock photos.

2. One obvious primary action

Call, book, or get a quote — pick the main thing you want visitors to do and make that button impossible to miss, repeated at the top and bottom of the page.

3. Tap-to-call on mobile

Most local searches happen on phones. Your phone number should be a tappable link, not plain text a customer has to copy.

4. Proof you're the real deal

Reviews, ratings, real photos of your work, years in business, licenses. Trust signals do the convincing that sales copy can't.

5. Fast loading

Every extra second of load time costs you visitors. Compressed images and clean code keep people from bouncing before the page even appears.

6. A form that actually works

We've seen countless small business forms that silently fail. Every form should submit, confirm to the visitor, and land in your inbox — test it monthly.

7. Real, specific content

Name your services, your service area, and your hours. Vague "we do it all" copy ranks poorly and converts worse than specifics.

8. It works on a phone

Buttons big enough to tap, text large enough to read, no sideways scrolling. If it's frustrating on mobile, you're losing your biggest audience.
